FLINTA* Contest and diverse booking to foster diversity in the music scene

True diversity in music starts with uplifting innovative talent. There is no shortage of talented artists, yet not all of them receive the visibility and opportunities they deserve. That’s why we launched Gamechanger in 2022 – a contest specifically designed to support FLINTA* acts by combining expert jury insights with the visibility of a public vote. We believe that fostering new talent is one of the most effective ways to build a truly diverse music landscape and, in turn, create more balanced festival line-ups.

At Hurricane and Southside Festival, we take this responsibility seriously and want to play our part in shaping a vibrant and inclusive music culture. By giving young talents a stage, we not only amplify their voices but also contribute to a fairer and more diverse industry.

Through initiatives like Gamechanger, we aim to actively support underrepresented artists and create more opportunities for them in the festival world. By hosting a contest, we create more engagement with our audience and ensure maximum visibility for emerging talent. Beyond that, we are continuously working to increase the regular share of FLINTA* acts in our line-up.

FLINTA* is an acronym for women, lesbians, intersex, non-binary, trans, and agender people – individuals who may face patriarchal discrimination based on their gender identity.
